Update Apr 2026/May 2026

We have something very important to announce: on June 6th—first weekend of Pride Month, fittingly—we are releasing our angry trans anthem, “Throwin’ Bricks”, the release show being held at the Ghost Light Bar in Hamtramck. What’s so special about this is that we have decided to donate 100% of proceeds from single sales on Bandcamp for the first 24 hours post-release, as well as all merch sales and our cut of the door from that night, to the Transgender Law Center. We really wanted to make an impact with this song that goes beyond our humble little band and makes real, positive change in the lives of our trans siblings everywhere. The TLC is the largest national trans-led liberation movement and is an organization that is accomplishing a whole lot of good—from working towards racial justice, housing equality, and support for the disabled, to winning legal battles against the criminalization of trans lives through victories in the courts, policy advocacy, and by raising the profile of issues affecting our communities. You can find more information at transgenderlawcenter.org (and we strongly encourage you to consider donating or volunteering while you’re there). Joining us on June 6th are Slept Through the Blood Moon (who are also releasing a single!) and Toed. Mark your calendars and spread the word!

Now onto what we’ve been up to this past month. Each of us are in multiple musical projects, and our drummer Austin plays rhythm guitar in a goth rock band called the Sad Hour. This was a busy month for them, and we got to see them play on April 3rd at Ghost Light and the Arboretum on April 23rd.

Our guitarist, Mark, is a solo artist, and this month he was brought in to be part of the band for Emily Rose’s Ghost Night at Ghost Light; a monthly event where beloved Detroit songbird Emily Rose covers the material of a different deceased artist. For April, it was Woody Guthrie.

On April 10th we trucked on down to Ohio for the first time to play at Howard’s Club H in Bowling Green with the Kick It 6, with whom we first played back in December at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor.

The following day, we got to play a very special show inside a cool little record store called the Wyrd Byrd in Ypsilanti with Claybanks, Mallory Wayt, and Confusion Reactor. Being such a small and intimate setting, wecould not use a full drum kit, so we had to improvie. Luckily, Austin is crafty and put together a “kit-less” kit, primarily using a cajon and a tambourine, and pulled it off fantastically. There’s so much more the Wyrd Byrd peddles other than records; weird, rare, vintage books, movies, and cds can be found lining the shelves, so we all left with some fun trinkets.

We went to the Corktown Music Festival at Flamingo Vintage and saw our friends Reckless Rhythms and the Bores—both of which we’ll be playing with at Mulligan’s Pub in Grand Rapids on Friday June 5th, by the way, spoiler alert.

“All shoplifters will be cheerfully beaten to a pulp”

Finally, we played a show at our favorite bowling alley, Bowlero, in Royal Oak, with Tyler Chernoff of Busby Death Chair fame on April 25th.

Next month’s shows are 5/2 at the Rex Theatre in Morenci; 5/8 at the Old Miami in Detroit; 5/15 at the Regal Beagle in Ypsilanti; and 5/16 at Collider in Chicago, IL.
